More Gails Party

Gail actually thought that she had blown out all of her candles on her own! The cake was one of the most tasty cheescakes I have ever enjoyed. Right up there with the ones that Gail, Blair, Tracy and Forest can make. I shoulda been in Politics.

The next day, Gail’s birthday, we split up and walked around Downtown Vancouver. Lawrence and I strolled and gawked and had a beer in the Canada Place waterfront area.

Blair, Angela, Gail, Tracy, Paul and Forest did Gastown, enjoying lunch along with a few beverages.

On the left Tracy, Gail and Forest, with Paul just behind, do a walking tour of Gastown.

That evening we gathered together in the very upscale lounge of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel prior to attending the birthday dinner at The Botanist. On the left above, Lawrence, Blair and Angela relaxing in the lounge.

Soup’s On!

The restaurant provided us with our own banquet room. The food was a delight, by far the best tasting meal that I have every enjoyed in a restaurant. It was just a very pleasant night, with excellent service and convivial dinner partners. I may be partial in that regard!

One of the delights of the evening was watching the various chefs working in the kitchen. We could catch it all from our banquet room. It was very quiet and efficient, everyone knowing their job from the kitchen staff to the waiters.  No wonder the atmosphere and the food was so perfect.

On the weekend, we had a barbeque in our backyard. Tracy selected and bought the food.

Above left, Chef Blair organized the actual cooking.

Above right, Chef Blair instructs his sous-chef Paul to “Turn them Paul, don’t eat them yet.”
